Wet Winter
The wettest winter in 50 years has caused the cancellation, rescheduling or the change of venue of many sports this year.
In relation to the 135 soccer matches that had been cancelled or rescheduled across 130 venues, Football Federation of Tasmania chief executive Michael McIntyre said:
It has tested the patience of everyone involved but it has been the wettest winter in more than 50 years and while we rely heavily on councils to maintain the grounds, they are doing a great job under very trying circumstances.
AFL Tasmania general Manager Scott Wade said:
We used to play in the mud but expectations have changed, as have risk-management requirements
