Sydney to Hobart – Before the Start


On Wednesday the 16th december, minister for Tourism and the Arts, Michelle O’Byrne announced a partnership with the Big Boat Racing Team for the 2009 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

What this partnership will means for Tasmania:

  • Prominent online exposure through logo placement and direct links to Tourism Tasmania’s website from BigBoatRacing.com – the website that will show the live feed from Big Boat Racing Team’s yacht YuuZoo – and via other social media and networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Blogger that will carry live text feeds from the crew.
  • Tourism Tasmania will be giving a young Tasmanian yachtsperson an experience of a lifetime, securing them a berth aboard YuuZoo to take part in the 2009 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. Blogging on thier experience and providing insight on Tasmania.
  • Award-winning international photojournalist, David Liscio, will be aboard blogging for discovertasmania.com & generating editorial on the state.


The naming sponsor YuuZoo is mobile media, payment and advertising company along with YouTube, Dell, HTC and Logitech, the YuuZoo boat will set a new benchmark for interactive sports and the use of digital media to enable online and mobile users worldwide to follow the event as if they were on board the yacht.

The Tasmanian government is taking active efforts to find new & ingenious ways to promote the state to a world audience. Reaching this audience by the way of social media, blogging & internet television.
