Duck hunt rush fear

The drought has bought around the cancellation of the duck season in Victoria and South Australia leaving Tasmania the only state were legal duck hunting can take place.

The opponents of Duck hunting are stating that interstate hunters looking to Tasmania to get their thrills would put duck populations under even more pressure, and leave the sport unsustainable.

Field and Game Association president Peter Darke played down concerns about interstate hunters.

“Most of the calls from interested people are fielded through me and I would be discouraging those people,” Mr Darke said.
