Hope exists for the Latrobe Carnival
Hope still exists that the 112 year old event, will still go on this year.
This years event has been stymied by the lack of sponsorship available and the Latrobe club secretary Dennis Chugg has said that the club required $40,000 in sponsorship by the end of this week to be held.
A meeting was held yesterday with Tasmanian sports minister, Michelle O’Byrne and apparently some anonymous sponsors have come forward.
If the event does not go ahead it will be only the second time in it’s history that it has been cancelled. The other time being during World War II.
At the moment it is only a 50/50 proposition, but better than what it looked a fortnight ago.
