Four run-out’s in the Tigers innings and multiple missed chance in the Queensland innings was a huge factor in the Tigers loosing their first Ford Ranger cup game of the season.
After loosing the toss, the game started well for the Tigers when young James Faulkner took the wicket of Chris Hartley for 3. From then on the Tigers were on the ropes as Broad (39) & Carseldine (73) set up the inning for the Bulls only to see the Tigers fight back to strangle the remaining batsmen. Faulkner ended up with 2/36 off 9 over’s but the spinners in Kreja & Doherty were the main reason the runs dried up for the Bulls with figures of 0/22 off 10 over’s & 3/25 off 10 over’s respectively.
Thanks to some late hitting from Reardon (55), the bulls managed 9/233 off their 50 over’s.
The Tigers were in with a good chance of chasing down the score but the Bull’s successfully defended the total with disciplined bowling and good fielding, including four run-outs.
The Tigers got off to a bad start and were 4/73 until Butterworth (43) and Captain Bailey (87) joined forces in a 91 run partnership to get some score on the board and to turn some momentum the Tigers way.
This momentum was not to last after Butterworth got out and a steady stream of Tiger wickets were to follow. A quick fire 20 by Geeves at the end saw the Tigers fall 24 runs short with 9 balls remaining in the innings.
