Ponting’s sledgers should be ashamed

Found this article by Garry Linnell, which in summary, states how Ricky Ponting has been portrayed by the do-gooder society.

Highlighting the fact that we should be celebrating the fact that Australian Cricket is at a high point in a game that has grown from being a gentleman’s game into a commercial driven professional game, and the fact no one can get near us.

But instead people would insist on bringing down a side that play’s a game for their country with passion and pride.

Another side note to this affair created by the media and some out-of-date sports people, has been that Ponting’s family in Tasmania have had to endure threatening phone calls.

Get off your high horse and sit back and relax.  Embrace one of  the greatest sporting team to represent your country and give them a break.

Some Quotes from the article:

According to The Daily Telegraph online poll yesterday, 83 per cent of you believe Ponting is not a good ambassador for the game of cricket and 79 per cent believe the Australian team does not play in the true spirit of cricket.

Good God man, these chaps don’t even have the decency to shave during a Test match. Little wonder they are terrorising those poor, good-natured Indian fellows from that fine sporting nation that wouldn’t dare besmirch the game with the scent of money.

The Australian side has been branded arrogant and smug for the past 30 years – except for those years in the early ’80s when they were losing badly to everyone.

India may have been the victim of several incompetent umpiring decisions during the Sydney Test.
Umpire Steve Bucknor has paid the price for that. But what illegalities were perpetrated?

He (Ponting) has come from a poor housing commission area in Tasmania to lead one of the most dominating sporting sides in the world.
