New Lights For Bellerive Oval
Wednesday night saw the christening of the new Bellerive Oval lights.
Grade sides and state players were the first to trial the new lights as cricket was played at night for the very first time at Bellerive oval.
The new lights are the result from Cricket Australia & Channel 9 who demanded the upgrade. Without it, future programming could not be guaranteed without Cricket standard lighting.
On the lights, Cricket Tasmania’s chief executive David Johnston commented:
It’ll open up obviously us to a greater ability to gain some night sport other than cricket, so that is something that’s a real positive for us and also we’ll continue to be able to have international cricket here at Bellerive Oval for a long time.
Ford Ranger Cup games to be played under the lights this season are:
- Tasmania v Western Australia on 13th December 2009
- Tasmania v Victoria on 27th January 2010
- Tasmania v Queensland on 13th February 2010
All games are scheduled to start at 2:15 PM.
KFC Twenty20 Big Bash games to be played under lights are:
- Tasmania v New South Wales on 30th December 2009
- Tasmania v Western Australia on New Years day 2010
These games are scheduled to start at 6:45 PM.
